Around 3 pm that day, my sister and I were escaping from tear gas bombs in the middle of a protest. We were running from the police officers that were approaching us when we discover there were more officers coming from the back. We crossed to another street and keep running.

Protests in Venezuela are brutally repressed. Image by Infobae.

We entered a popular mall to be safe. Some other protestors were with us trying to recover from the gas and avoiding the police.

We were going to wait some hours there before going home, but it was at that moment when I remembered my many hours watching Vegetta777 (A Spanish Youtuber) playing war games. It was time to move.

Time to use my gaming skills In Real Life.

Background

Venezuela is one of those countries that you’ve been hearing about on the news for years. In 1998, Hugo Chávez rose to power, and the same regime has remained for the last 24 years. Their dictatorship destroyed the country and lead to a massive exodus.
